I started creating 3D typography around 2012. Until then, I’d been illustrating detailed floral text pieces but felt a growing need to explore new opportunities to be creative in my work.
I’m fascinated by semantics, visual cues and symbolism. I like to play with the dual meanings that are common in the English language. My current work seeks to explore the relationship between semantics and form. I’m fascinated by cognitive biases, the dichotomy of ‘fast’ and ‘slow’ thinking, and the readiness of the human brain to be fooled by optical illusion. I try to combine brain-eye tricks, forced perspective, rendering of light and models of 3D objects to create engaging pieces that resist immediate comprehension.
An ongoing series of experiments with type, mainly in 3D and with perspective.
